Wtih gas prices getting higher we are all thinking about how to get the best miles per gallon from our RV. Depending on size and weight of your RV you can expect to get between 8-12 mpg.
I found a couple of great articles on getting the most mpg from your RV. Since this is a rental RV you will not have complete control over all of these suggestions, but some of them should make a difference for you.
Did you know that for every 5 miles that you driver over 60 mph you can assume that you are paying an additional 10 to 30 cents per gallon. So if you are driving 75 miles per hour it is like paying an additional 30 to 90 cents per gallon. That is quickly going to add up.
Check your tire pressure. Proper tire pressure can increase you fuel economy by up to three percent. Tire should be check every couple of days and while they are cold.
Using the cruise controls keeps your vehicle at a constant speed, making the vehicle more efficient.
Keep your water and your waste tanks empty until you get to your destination. Hauling around hundreds of pounds of water will greatly reduce fuel economy.
